Somewhere in the deep heart of Naples there is the Commissariato Pizzofalcone, a part of the police administration that not exactly covered itself with glory because some investigators made dirty deals. Although all was cleared up and the guilty parts went to jail the reputation was severely damaged. A new start takes Lojacono transferred from Palermo because of fake accusations to Pizzofalcone together with some colleagues from all over Naples who are not the cream of police officers. Nevertheless they work things out and become a team investigating murder and other serious crimes successfully in their local area. Lojacono is an extremely gifted investigator often ignoring the plain solution in order to make a deep dive into the lives of victims and perpetrators to reveal the truth. Suspense is there from the beginning to the end.
Irgendwo im tiefen Herzen Neapels befindet sich das Commissariato Pizzofalcone, ein Teil der Polizeiverwaltung, der sich nicht gerade mit Ruhm bekleckert hat, weil einige der Polizeibeamten schmutzige Geschäfte gemacht haben. Obwohl alles aufgeklärt wurde und die Schuldigen ins Gefängnis wanderten, wurde der Ruf der Einheit schwer beschädigt. Ein Neuanfang bringt Lojacono, der wegen falscher Anschuldigungen von Palermo nach Neapel versetzt wird, in dieses Team zusammen mit einigen Kollegen aus ganz Neapel, die nicht zur Crème de la Crème der Polizei gehören. Dennoch raufen sie sich zusammen und werden zu einem Team, das in Mordfällen und anderen schweren Verbrechen in ihrer Gegend erfolgreich ermittelt. Lojacono ist ein äußerst begabter Ermittler, der oft die einfache Lösung ignoriert, um tief in das Leben von Opfern und Tätern einzutauchen und die Wahrheit ans Licht zu bringen. Spannung ist von Anfang bis Ende garantiert.

Has Lojacono skeletons in his closet?
A key witness in a mafia trial has claimed that he was involved with the mafia … whatever. A subsequent investigation was unable to find anything incriminating, but to be on the safe side Lojacono was transferred from Palermo to Naples. At his new office, he was not welcomed with open arms and was relegated to a boring office job. He wouldn’t be able to do much damage there.
But Lojacono is a first-class investigator and picks up a lead when corpses start to pile up – somewhat outside of his actual work and without any real assignment. Of course he is successful and solves the case, but this does not help his popularity. That’s why his boss is so pleased when Lojacono is asked to join a new team in Pizzofalcone.
The police station in Pizzofalcone has a bad reputation. There was a scandal when it emerged that several investigators had embezzled drugs and acted as dealers in person. They all had more than little skeletons in their closets. An investigation revealed everything and the perpetrators were sent to prison. The police station was … almost empty – closure was imminent. Then they decided to give it one last try …
A new head of the police station was appointed and a new team put together. The team members are transferred – and they are all colleagues who have a bit of dirt on them. Whether they are overzealous investigators who sometimes use a little violence … Whether they are trigger-happy colleagues … Whether it’s … whatever. Lojacono finds himself in the midst of this team.
Two colleagues from the previous team also join them, who have been classified as safe following the investigation. Everyone has to come together for the first time … Not only do they face the suspicion of the police in Naples, but the fear that the police station could be closed after all still hangs over them. It all adds up to enormous pressure to succeed.
Of course there are murders – often family affairs. The investigation begins – and it soon becomes clear that Lojacono still has his brilliant intuitions and insights. The others join in and slowly a real team is formed that has to learn to deal with the terrible deeds.
The Pizzofalcone police station is located in the heart of Naples and its area of responsibility includes both part of the old town and neighbourhoods where wealthy citizens live. As it turns out, it is a base for a wide variety of crimes. Among other things, there are also a number of suicides, the circumstances of which have been observed by a team member for years. He is of the opinion that it is a serial killer – which he is not wrong about, even if nobody believes him at first and he investigates in his spare time.
Lojacono has to get along with everyone, whether it’s the computer nerd, the powerhouse, the colleague with connections … He is not the head of the police department, but he is responsible for investigating murders and other capital offences. Because of his alleged mafia contacts, he is sometimes viewed with suspicion within the team.
Private life?
He is divorced after having to leave Palermo and has a teenage daughter who has moved in with him, which leads to even more stress with his ex-wife. There are two women in his new environment who think he is attractive – and would like to start some sort of relationship with him. Lojacono is caught between two stools …
His private life and the private lives of his team-mates take up space and paint individual pictures of the protagonists. Their private activities naturally also influence the investigations. In each of the novels, a well-rounded overall picture is always drawn, which also reveals how the victims and perpetrators act and why such terrible acts occur. At the same time you get curious about the progression of the team’s private affairs. All ends well, or?

Ein Kronzeuge hat in einem Mafiaprozess behauptet, dass er mit der Mafia … was auch immer. Eine nachfolgende Untersuchung hat zwar nicht Belastendes finden können, aber sicherheitshalber wurde Lojacono vom Palermo nach Neapel versetzt. In seiner neuen Dienststelle wurde er erst einmal nicht mit offenen Armen empfangen und auf einen langweiligen Büroposten abgeschoben. Dort würde er nicht viel Schaden anrichten können.
Aber Lojacono ist ein erstklassiger Ermittler und nimmt eine Spur auf, als sich Morde ereignen – etwas neben seiner eigentlichen Arbeit und ohne wirklichen Auftrag. Natürlich hat er Erfolg und löst den Fall, was aber nicht zu seiner Beliebtheit beiträgt. Daher kommt es seinem Chef wie gerufen, als Lojacono für ein neues Team in Pizzofalcone angefordert wird.
Das Kommissariat in Pizzofalcone hat einen schlechten Ruf. Es gab einen Skandal, als sich herausstellte, dass mehrere Ermittler in einem Fall Rauschgift unterschlagen und sich als Dealer betätigt haben. Alle hatten mehr alsnur ein bisschen Dreck am Stecken. Eine Untersuchung legte alles offen und die Täter wanderten ins Gefängnis. Das Kommissariat war … fast leer – eine Schließung stand bevor. Dann beschloss man einen letzten Versuch …
Ein neuer Kommissariatsleiter wird benannt, ein neues Team zusammengestellt. Die Teammitglieder werden versetzt – und es sind alles Kollegen, die ein wenig Dreck am Stecken haben. Ob es sich um übereifrige Ermittler handelt, die schon mal etwas Gewalt anwenden … Ob es sich um schießwütige Kollegen handelt … Ob es … was auch immer. Inmitten dieses Teams findet sich Lojacono wieder.
Aus dem früheren Team stoßen auch noch zwei Kollegen zum Team, die nach der Untersuchung als unbedenklich eingestuft worden sind. Alle müssen erste einmal zusammenfinden … Auf sie wartet nicht nur das Misstrauen der Polizei in Neapel, über ihnen schwebt nach wie vor die Angst, dass das Kommissariat doch noch geschlossen werden kann. Alles sorgt für einen enormen Erfolgsdruck.
Natürlich gibt es Mordfälle – meist Familiensachen. Es wird ermittelt – und schnell zeigt sich, dass Lojacono nach wie vor seine genialen Eingebungen und Einsichten hat. Die übrigen spielen mit und langsam bildet sich ein wirkliches Team, das mit den schrecklichen Taten umzugehen lernen muss.
Das Kommissariat Pizzofalcone liegt im Herzen von Neapel und sein Zuständigkeitsbereich Bereich umfasst sowohl einen Teil der Altstadt als auch Viertel, in denen wohlhabende Bürger leben. wie sich zeigt, ist es eine Basis für verschiedenste Verbrechen. Unter anderem gibt es auch eine Reihe von Selbstmorden, deren Begleitumstände von einem Teammitglied seit Jahren beobachtet werden. Er ist der Meinung, dass es sich um einen Serienkiller handelt – womit er nicht falsch liegt, auch wenn ihm erst einmal niemand glaubt und er in seiner Freizeit ermittelt.
Lojacono muss mit allen zurechtkommen, ob dem Computernerd, dem Kraftprotz, dem Kollegen mit Vitamin B … Er ist nicht der Kommissariatsleiter, aber er führt die Ermittlung bei Mordfällen und anderen Kapitalverbrechen. Wegen seiner angeblichen Mafiakontakte wird er im Team schon mal mit Misstrauen beobachtet.
Privatleben?
Er ist geschieden, nachdem er Palermo verlassen musste und hat eine Tochter im Teenageralter, die kurzerhand bei ihm eingezogen ist, was zu noch mehr Stress mit der Ex-Ehefrau führt. Es gibt in seinem neuen Umfeld zwei Frauen, die ihn für attraktiv halten – und gern mit ihm etwas anfangen möchten. Lojacono hängt zwischen den Stühlen …
Sein Privatleben und auch das jeweilige Privatleben seiner Teamkollegen nimmt Raum ein und zeichnet individuelle Bilder der Protagonisten. Ihre privaten Aktivitäten nehmen natürlich auch Einfluss auf die Ermittlungen. In jedem der Bücher wird immer ein abgerundetes Gesamtbild gezeichnet, das auch offenlegt, wie Opfer und Täter agieren und warum es zu derart schrecklichen Taten kommt. Genauso gespannt bleibt es, was sich im Privatleben des Teams ereignet. Alles wird gut, oder?
