There is a rather broken guy who becomes a private detective on the background of having been an investigator with the army: Cormoran Strike is brilliant and devastated at the same time – and he has a big family, partly well-off. Help comes by Robin Ellacott, his part-time secretary, his private assistent – and finally also working as a private investigator. Their private affairs … Both attack their cases in order to solve the mysteries around them. While there is a day-to-day business there are also some extraordinary cases challenging the team especially when rich and influential people are involved. The team is always faster and better than the police – and wins any race to unravel secrets.
Da gibt es einen ziemlich kaputten Typen, der Privatdetektiv wird, weil er bei der Armee als Ermittler gearbeitet hat: Cormoran Strike ist brillant und gleichzeitig oft am Boden zerstört – und er hat viel Familie, einige ganz gut situiert. Unterstützung bekommt er von Robin Ellacott, einst seine Teilzeitsekretärin, dann seine private Assistentin – und schließlich auch als Privatdetektivin aktiv. Ihr Privatleben … Beide nehmen ihre Fälle resolut in Angriff, um die Rätsel und Fallstricke darin zu lösen. Neben dem Tagesgeschäft gibt es nämlich auch einige außergewöhnliche Fälle, die das Team herausfordern, vor allem wenn reiche und einflussreiche Leute involviert sind. Das Team ist immer etwas schneller und besser als die Polizei – und gewinnt am Ende immer, wenn es darum geht, Hintergründe und Geheimnisse aufzudecken.
