Crossing Limits

“Pagan Peak” is a descendant of the series “The Bridge” – it is not a remake!

The initial situation is similar: a corpse is found right on the border between Germany and Austria. It’s not a bridge, of course, but a snow-covered pass in the Alps, which doesn’t necessarily make the investigation any easier. This gloomy snowy landscape not only dominates the investigation, but also the relationship between the investigators.

On the German side, there is a motivated young detective who is determined to make a career for herself, while the Austrians send a rather washed-up detective into the race who seems to have dirt on him. It takes time … until the two come together and finally successfully solve several cases.

Over time, both become more and more involved in their cases. They risk their lives and come close to becoming victims themselves. As a result of these very traumatic events, both investigators abandon their duties as representatives of law and order – and prioritise their personal feelings, fears and obsessions in order to hunt down the perpetrators themselves.

As the series progresses, the boundaries between the good guys and the bad guys become blurred. Instead of black and white, everything becomes grey – and everything fits in with the rather bleak winter landscape that dominates most of the series.
