The Power of a Curious Woman, a Retired Teacher and a Reborn Writer … Investigating

Imagine a picturesque small town, called Cabot Cove, in Maine somewhere at the beautiful coastline where everything seems to be ok. There are small and big houses with views of the beach, the harbor with its sailing boats and the rolling sea. There is a blue sky, a golden sun, the deep blue sea and white spray. All people seem to know each other and are always keen to help out if anybody is short of … whatever. Crime? Murder?

Jessica Fletcher lived here as a school teacher together with her husband – no kids. After the premature death of her husband she retired and now she takes credit for of everything when necessary. Of course she has lots of time … and decides to write a novel, a crime novel. For her biggest surprise the novel is published and a great success … and Jessica gets unexpectedly involved in a real murder case. So for now … the quiet life is gone!

Jessica writes more crime novels – at first on an old typewriter, later she uses a desktop computer. She lives a happy life in Cabot Cove and every now and then she stumbles over a corpse and gets roped into the investigation led by the local sheriff. It’s quite astonishing how many crime and murder is hidden in this sleepy little town …

Of course Jessica becomes soon a renowned author who will later teach at the university in New York about how to create crime fiction. In the meantime her new profession and her fame will allow her traveling the world … and … always there is a murder case to be solved. Imagine an impeccably dressed woman, self-confident and strong-willed who doesn’t care about local police officers and detectives when she thinks there is something wrong with whatever.

In short: it’s one of the longest living and enjoyable crime series on Tv … comfort crime stories at its best.
