A Troubled Young Woman

Step by step her brain works and she suddenly recognizes a pattern, new evidence, new leads …
It’s not astonishing that Niemi, in her beginning 30s, after some years at Helsinki police becomes team leader in the murder squad. In short: she is going strong.
The background for her professional success was laid by a mentor at the police who helped her managing the police qualifying examinations as well as her daily life … and how to proceed with murder cases. Unfortunately he died of cancer. Niemi was devastated when losing this very friend of her.
At the police among her team she is an unassumingly policewoman living in an one-bedroom flat which seems adequate because her passion is her professional life at the police headquarters. Otherwise the minimalistic flat is only a protective shield. From the apartment there is a hidden entry to a large luxurious flat which she inherited from her family. She is a rich heiress, however, only very few people know about it.
Her family – mother, father, younger brother – dies in a car accident. Her mother was the driver and it seems that she deliberately caused the disaster. Niemi was also in the car, but survived with injuries. Since then she is haunted by the event and struggles with her fate.
… and there is more to it. Her mother was entangled in a life of secret conspiracies and wanted to get free – the only way she found was suicide. Niemi isn’t free from this past because the leaders of the secret society want her to join them and become an active member. With all her power Niemi fights back, but these people are powerful and devious. A cruel crime case with murders, abduction, grievous bodily harm … develops and at the end there is a success, but the evil comes back …
Of course Niemi and her team are not only busy with the crimes involving Niemi’s family in the past and Niemi in person in the present. The murder squad has to deal with a lot of murder cases all over Helsinki, a metropole as darkened dangerous an any metropole in the world. In general the cases are intricate and entail a high death toll and a proper amount of brutality. It’s always suspense-packed with many a twist especially when revealing secrets of the past that trigger crime of the present.
